July 2025
GES Families
We hope you had a great summer and are excited to welcome you to the 2025-26 school year! We begin the year as a new administration team; Amy Dunlap has moved from the assistant principal to the principal role, and Lance McAllister is joining GES as the assistant principal. We look forward to working with you to make this a great school year for your children!
Gator Educators have been at school training and preparing classrooms to be ready for their students and families. Come to Open House to meet teachers, get car tags, and buy some spirit wear from PTO! Please be patient with the parking– it will be crowded, and all should enter through the front doors.
--Assigned teachers will be available to find in Skyward tomorrow, July 30th.
--Kindergarten, 1st grade, CDC, Nest Open House: Wednesday, July 30th from 4:00-5:30 pm. This is a come-and-go event.
--2nd, 3rd, 4th grade Open House: Thursday, July 31st from 4:00-6:00 pm. This is a come-and-go event.
--5th Grade Open House: Thursday, July 31st from 6:00-6:45 pm. Please come to the cafeteria at 5:55 pm.
The first day of school is this Friday, August 1st. Here is some information to consider:
--Parents can walk their students to class on August 1 only. Kindergarten parents may walk students in on phase-in days and on August 7th. We will have the BooHoo Breakfast for kinder parents on this Thursday (8/7) at 7:45 in the cafeteria.
Parents must check in at the office for a visitor sticker. Bring your ID with you.
--Students might want to bring lunch from home since the lunch lines are long the first week as students try to remember lunch codes.
--Please make sure your student knows how they are getting home (bus or car rider) these first days of school.
--To keep our long car lines running safely and efficiently, practice with your children to unbuckle and get out/in the car independently. They can do it!
--The Skyward registration for your child can be a bit confusing. Please make sure you have given permission for your children to use a Chromebook at school (we monitor their usage!) and permission to take and share their picture if you want them in the yearbook. You can go back in and change the default of "deny" to "allow" if you would like.
This message is sent through Parent Square, our new messaging system this year. Some teachers will still use Class Dojo for behavior rewards, but Parent Square will be the way we communicate. Your Skyward information is synced with this program, so if you phone or email changes, be sure to update it in Skyward.
Our theme this year is to “Level Up,” as we show up, practice hard, and work as a team to challenge ourselves to do our best! We can’t wait to start the learning and celebrate success with our Gators!
